Margaret Langdon-Kelly

Inducted: 1997

Mrs. Langdon-Kelly, of Little Compton, was affectionately known to all as “Poggy”. She, along with Dr. Eric Denhoff, founded Rhode Island’s famed Meeting Street School, a world renowned institution providing early education as well as medical intervention for special needs children.

Her contributions to community service are legion, and at the age of 93, she was still active in many civic and cultural endeavors benefitting her fellow man. In 1996, she was chosen as a “Community Heroes” torchbearer in the 1996 Olympic Torch Relay. The Margaret Langdon Kelly room at the Nancy Brayton Osborn Adult Day Center in Little Compton provides “social and recreational programs as well as health monitoring for the frail elderly, disabled, people with dementia and elders unable to remain at home alone during the day.”
