Clem Labine, 1926-2007, was a three-time National League All-Star who was inducted into the Brooklyn Dodgers Hall of Fame in 1986. He was regarded as baseball’s best relief pitcher in the 1950’s. A native of Woonsocket, Labine played in six World Series and on three World Championship Teams, before retiring in 1963. He was named RI Athlete of the Year in 1955.
