Jane F. Howlett of Bristol, Rhode Island is an attorney engaged in the practice of law with an emphasis on Domestic Relations and Probate Law. She is a 1983 graduate of Providence College and a 1986 University of Bridgeport School of Law, Bridgeport, Connecticut. She is married to Jeffrey R. Howlett, a retired Commander in the United States Navy. Jane is the founder and managing partner of Howlett Law, Inc. in Bristol, Rhode Island where she practices law with her daughter, Meredith Howlett, a graduate of Roger Williams University School of Law. Her son, Samuel Howlett, is a First Lieutenant in the United States Army Reserve and is a graduate of the University of Rhode Island.
Jane is the Chief Municipal Court Judge for the Town of Bristol, Rhode Island and has served from December, 2012 to the present. Jane is very active in the Rhode Island Family Court and the Rhode Island Bar Association and has served as Chairperson or the Rhode Island Bar Association Family Court Bench/Bar Committee from 2004 to the present, has served as a Delegate to the Rhode Island Child Support Guidelines Taskforce, being appointed to the Committee conducting the quadrennial review of the Child Support Guidelines as mandated by Federal law in 2017 and was reappointed in that capacity in 2021. She was a Delegate to the Committee to redraft Rhode Island Domestic Relations form DR6 in 2013, a Delegate to the Family Court Committee to redraft the Rules of Procedure for Domestic Relations in 2014, a Delegate to the Family Court Permanency Committee in 2014 and was the Rhode Island Bar Association 2010 Recipient of the “Continuing Service Award” recognizing ongoing dedication to public service and the disadvantaged and she received the Rhode Island Monthly Magazine Excellence in the Law/Best of 2020.
Jane is a fellow of the Rhode Island Bar Foundation, a member Society of Mayflower Descendants, State of Rhode Island and she and her husband are members of the New York Yacht Club.
