As part of the centennial observation of the ratification of the 19th Amendment (1920 - 2020) giving American women the right to vote, the Rhode Island Heritage Hall of Fame announced it will be inducting six women suffragists into the Hall. These inductees include two Swedish immigrants, Maria Kindberg and Ingeborg Kindstedt; two women of color, Bertha Higgins and Roberta Dunbar; Sara Algeo the founder of the Rhode Island League of Women Voters, and author and poet Mary Frances Purdy Palmer.
The induction event, conducted with strict COVID guideline adherence, is to be held at the historic DeWolf Tavern on Thames Street in Bristol on Sunday December 6, 2020 at 2 p.m.
